Beyonce’s new album “Lion King: The Gift”, has just been released today July 19 and it features many African artistes, most of which are Nigerians such as Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Mr. Eazi, Wizkid, Tekno, Burna Boy, Shatta Wale from Ghana and other foreign acts like Kendrick Lamar and the likes.
But Nigerian reggae dancehall artiste and rapper, Burna Boy, stands out on this list because he is the only African artiste with a solo feature on the Lion King album.
This comes as an achievement for Burna Boy’s music career as he is gradually attaining more international feats and likewise treading same path as Wizkid and Davido.
The year 2019 has been a great year for the reggae artist. On 3rd January, 2019, he was announced alongside Mr Eazi, as one of the artists performing at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
He won four awards at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, including African Artiste of the Year, Listener’s Choice and Best Male MVP. On the 21st of March 2019, Burna Boy released a 4-track collaborative EP with Los Angeles-based electronic duo DJDS, titled Steel & Copper.
In April 2019, Pulse Nigeria reported that Burna Boy will release ‘African Giant’, a 16-track album. Burna held a private listening session for the album and shared photos from the event on social media. While on June 24, 2019, he won Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards.
Burna Boy is sure soaring high in his music career and we can only wish him the best as he soars higher.
