Being aware of his surroundings and being attracted to the character Molotov girl, he decides to help her in retrieving the code that was stolen from her and her former partner Keys (Joe Keery) by the publisher Antwan (Taika Waititi) who wanted to deviate from the initial program of the code and destroy free city, the world of the NPCs.

Analysis:
Since 2014, after his last film, ‘Night at the museum: secret of the tomb’, ‘Free guy’ has been Shawn Levy’s newest project which we can see intended to bring a new face to the theaters if not for the patchy works he did collecting scenes and plots from movies like: ‘The matrix’, ‘The Truman show’, and ‘Wreck-it Ralph’.
‘Free guy’ contains a storyline that seemed entertaining in the first half, going through the daily routine of Guy as he wakes up the same way, says the same things to his jellyfish, wears the same cloth, takes the same coffee in the same coffee shop, greets the same people on his way to work and encounters the same incident at work everyday. Until he met Molotov, he kept going according to his program which was fun and tiring at the same time.
Being aware of the fact that the life he was living wasn’t real but a programmed life, he decided to investigate the real world, and in the process, the movie seemed to move out of lane but for Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn who knows just how to draw them back in line.
The technical aspects of the movie is good as Shawn did great moving from the real world to a game world beautifully and elegantly. At some point, you begin to think the game world was the real cause of the amazing effects done.
Ryan Reynolds is a natural as he displays his acts with ease and realism. Jodie Comer did great also with her dual acts going from Molotov, the action girl to Millie the girl who is driven by her character. Lil Rel gives a decent role here as Guy’s best friend. Joe Keery is given a role which he portrays pretty good and Taika Waititi, who gives a rather unrealistic role giving out beats that are not funny over and over again.
Finally, ‘Free guy’ is a movie with a great concept and some entertaining scenes that can keep you distracted.
Bottom line: Patchy piece of work
