Nigeria’s Afro-fusion star, Burna Boy has been trending on twitter since Thursday following the buildup to and release of his new album, ‘African Giant’.
Burna Boy had announced the album in April 2019, and ever since then, the album became one of the most anticipated. The name ‘African Giant’ emerged from his Coachella debacle and eventual performance during which the title, ‘African Giant’ stuck.
Burna Boy’s fight for fonts in the Coachella debacle might have been a foul reason for him to declare himself as one, but he is indeed an African giant. Nigerian music is blessed with giants.
Fans however, were full of praise for ‘Another story’ and ‘Collateral Damage’ which describes the issues Nigerians face. Fans have described the two songs as history lessons needed at this time in Nigeria with some emphasizing the similarities between Burna Boy and Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
One of the songs in the album feature Damian Marley, a Jamaican reggae artist, who happens to be the son of the popular late Bob Marley. The Nigerian singer also featured Angelique Kidjo in the track.
His huge tracks ‘Ye’ and ‘On The Low’, as well as his collab with UK rapper Dave on ‘Location’ have set this new album up perfectly, and Burna Boy has become one of the hottest artists on the planet.
