With the whole Corona virus and the worldwide lockdown, theater and the fun in it were being missed. Luckily, that phase is over and “Dune” which was a failed project in 1984 has decided to surface once again with Legendary pictures and Denis Villeneuve carrying it along.
Let’s hit the theaters and see how the movie fared..
Paul Atreides (Timotheé Chalamet) (despite the sisterhood telling Lady Jessica she was supposed to give birth to a girl child who was to bring forth a male child with super powers and the ability to see the future) was a child born into a noble family with responsibilities and of course the super power to see the future.
Despite the disturbing visions he had about the future and the journey at hand, Paul has to see to it that his family and also the people of Arrakis are safe no matter the difficulties and conflicts he would encounter on his way to fulfilling his father’s wish.
How will he go about this journey and will he be able to accomplish it??..
Slow pace at the beginning
Denis Villeneuve has directed several hit movies and so far this is his very best at the moment, a story talked about almost everywhere you go. A story about a young boy born with the responsibility to carry on both his family and his people and who is willing to fulfill it despite all odds. A story with a catchy plot.
‘Dune’ which was a book originally written by Frank Herbert in 1965 has been tried out by various productions and directors and which was not successful but has finally been taken up by legendary pictures and Denis Villeneuve of which they have done a great job with by finally bringing out a success out of the storyline.
Director Denis has done a great job in bringing the Frank Herbert’s book to life in this amazing movie as the Cinematography, the story and the acting were portrayed not only beautifully, they also go in accordance with the original story.
Even though the movie started on a low-key and has an abrupt end, it carried enough entertainment that you wouldn’t want to miss on any part of it.
Timotheé Chalamet as Paul Atreides was perfectly performed as he takes on the role displaying natural acts, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica was a blast, Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto was good as he almost steals the spotlight in every scene he appears in. Jason Mamoa as Duncan was a perfect fit for his super hero self. Other characters were also good.
In general, ‘Dune’ is an entertaining sci-fi movie that should be see on a big screen so you’ll catch all the fun and thrill and once you understand the story, you wouldn’t want the movie to come to an end as it’ll keep you glued to your screen.
Bottom line: Quite engaging
